If you’re a beauty or wellness pro, you know looks matter, but you don’t necessarily know how to make your business look like the pro you are. All you know is you want more clients in your chair or in your class, or to raise your rates—but don’t know where to start. The good news is: I do.
Named by my Goong Goong (that’s Cantonese for grandpa), Guan
(“gw-aan”) is my middle name and symbolizes strength. Which is on point because I happen to think your business is only as strong as your branding.
THE MEANING OF GUAN
My name is Mel, and for 15 years, I worked as a hairstylist. And for 15 years, I wondered why independent beauty and wellness pros don’t treat their businesses like businesses. They scroll Canva for a different Instagram template every time they need to share a cancellation—or worse, a photo of their dog—and then they wonder why clients aren’t booking. (I come in peace, friends ✌🏻)
So, in 2020, when salons were shut down and I lost my identity, I went back to school for graphic design. I started working with independent hairstylists to make their businesses look like the pros they are, from brand identities and on-brand Instagram templates to websites that are not only bookable, they’re beautiful (you’re in the beauty industry, after all).
And I’m here to do the same for you.
